Boise’s Expert Plumbing & Repiping Solutions

Boise Repiping Experts You Can Trust
If your home was built before the 1970s, its original pipes may have served you well, but they weren't meant to last forever. Whether you’re dealing with low water pressure, recurring leaks, or poor water quality, old pipes are often the culprit. Our pipe replacement services alleviate these common plumbing headaches once and for all.
What is Repiping?
Until the 1970s, most home plumbing systems were built with galvanized pipes—steel pipes coated with zinc. While once the gold standard, this material corrodes over time, restricting water flow and eventually leading to system failure.
Our Pipe Replacement Process
Our repiping services tackle these issues at the source. We’ll:
- Inspect your current plumbing system
- Design a custom replacement plan
- Help you choose a material that suits your budget and preferences
- Remove and dispose of your old pipes
- Install the new pipe network
- Clean up, leaving your home in better condition than when we arrived
Factors to Consider Before Committing to Repiping
- Age and condition: While all galvanized pipes will eventually require replacement, we always look for ways to accommodate your budget and needs. In some cases, total system replacement may not be necessary until a later date.
- Timeline: While repiping timelines vary with the size of the home and the complexity of the job, complete system replacement can take between 2-7 days.
- Materials: Repiping material options include PEX, copper, and PVC. Each material has unique benefits in terms of cost and durability. Rest assured, we’ll help you understand the benefits and limitations of each material.
- Schedule: During the repiping process, some water service disruptions are likely. However, you can feel confident that service will always be restored at the end of each workday. We’ll coordinate with you to minimize disruption and work around your schedule.
Signs Your Home Needs Repiping
When it comes to plumbing problems, your home is a fabulous communicator—you just have to know how to spot common signals. Here are common signs you may need pipe replacement plumbing services:
Discolored Water
Water with a brown, yellow, or reddish tint is a common signal of pipe corrosion. While not an immediate hazard, it’s a telltale sign your pipes are likely deteriorating.
Low Water Pressure
Over time, minerals begin to accumulate in old pipes, slowing flow. If you’ve noticed pressure loss, your old pipes may be the issue.
Frequent Leaks
Occasional plumbing repairs are normal. However, frequent leaks in multiple locations suggest that pipe replacement services may be necessary.
Age of Your Home
If your home was built before 1970 and hasn’t been updated, there’s a good chance you have galvanized pipes. Even if you do not have visible system issues, you will eventually need repiping service.
While this is not a comprehensive list, these are the most common signs you may need repiping. Additional signs to look for are visible water damage, inconsistent water temperature, and visible corrosion on exposed pipes.
Types of Repiping Materials
When it comes to choosing the right pipe replacement material, there are many factors to consider. The most common options are PEX, copper, and PVC. Each has benefits and limitations, which we’ll explain below:
PEX Pipes
PEX, a flexible plastic material, has become the go-to choice for many plumbers because it is:
- Flexible and requires fewer fittings
- Freeze-resistant
- Less labor-intensive to work with
- Roughly 20% to 80% cheaper than copper
- Made to last, with a 40 to 50-year lifespan
In terms of limitations, there are few. Due to its UV sensitivity, PEX cannot be used outdoors. On rare occasions, indoor rodents have been known to chew through PEX.
Copper Pipes
While copper pipes were once the standard pipe replacement material, that’s changed with the introduction of PEX. However, copper still has many advantages:
- It’s extremely durable and can last over 50 years
- It can handle extreme temperatures
- It can be used both indoors and outside
- It may add resale value to homes
The downside? Copper pipes are expensive and require a more complex installation process. They are also more susceptible to freezing in extreme temperatures.
PVC Pipes
In terms of cost, PVC is the winner. It’s also lightweight, easy to install, and corrosion-resistant, making it a solid choice for repiping. However, PVC has significant limitations as it:
- Can only be used for cold water applications since it becomes unstable at high temperatures
- Is rigid, which means it requires more joints
- Can become brittle over time
- Is best suited for greywater applications and drain-waste systems
